When to see a Physiotherapist

At the first point of injury.

Immediate attention can help you get started on the road to recovery and self-management without aggravation of the injury. Knowing what to do and when to do it during each stage of the recovery process is critical to optimize your healing. Neglecting your injured area early on can contribute to chronic pain and weakness or injury recurrence.

When confronting a Chronic Injury.

A Chronic Injury is defined as having symptoms that have lasted 6 months or more. While there are a few injuries that do take more time to recover, chronic injuries may be related to muscle imbalances (weakness or tightness) that have not be adequately addressed.

I have tried exercising but I always seem to get hurt.

Whether you have already started an exercise program with a personal trainer, on your own or at a fitness facility, an Activity Screening will help direct your fitness program to suit your needs and your body.  We may have accumulated several small and seemingly insignificant injuries throughout our years, which have contributed to muscle imbalances (due to tightness and weakness) or joint stiffness or looseness. These underlying issues contribute to a non-optimal movement strategy or pattern, which contributes to further breakdown of the body parts.  It is not a matter of “if” you breakdown, but a matter of “when”.  Through a comprehensive screening of strength and flexibility and movement patterns, the therapist will help develop an individualized program for you and your trainer to follow.  It will include not only recommended activities, but activities to avoid at the present time.
